Welcome
to Pre-K and Kindergarten Picnic
Kick
off the school year with a fun potluck picnic. Join us at Washington
Market Park in early September. Come meet new families and catch
up with old friends. The PTA Executive Board will also be there
to introduce themselves, as will the wonderful Pre-K and Kindergarten
teachers. It's a way to make the transition to school easier
and more relaxing for both children and adults.
Artware
by You
Your
child's artwork transferred to your choice of a wide range of
items – just in time for the holidays. Mugs, aprons, mouse
pads, note cards, calendars, t-shirts, caps – there is
something for everyone. A great fundraiser that also answers
the question – what will we get for Grandma this year?

Taste
of Tribeca WOW!! What an event this is. Without a doubt, it’s
the most scrumptious outdoor food tasting party in the city.
Local restaurants set up shop along Greenwich and Duane Streets
to share their fare. Music fills the air. Kids can enjoy arts
and crafts activities. This is an all-day event for the whole
family, extended family that is. We also produce and sell a cookbook
featuring some delectable recipes from the Taste’s participating
restaurants. The Taste is our biggest annual fundraiser. To participate,
you buy tickets to redeem at any restaurant table for tasty treats.
This began years ago as a leading-edge private/public partnership
to raise funds for enrichment programs at the area schools. Founded
by ECC parents in conjunction with local restaurants/food purveyors.
We invited P.S. 234’s participation and it’s been
a cooperative event ever since. The Taste happens in May each
year.
Auction
The
annual auction is probably the second biggest fundraiser for
our school. The owners of Chanterelle on Harrison St. have been
gracious enough to donate their restaurant and some of the most
luscious food south of Canal Street to us the past several years.
It is an elegant adult-only evening, where you get to sip wine
and have some bidding fun. Donations can include anything from
a week stay at a Swiss chalet, a movie and ice-cream for your
child with one of our fun and entertaining teachers, membership
to NY Sports Club, to the ever popular class projects, created
by each class at TLC. This event usually happens on a Sunday
evening in March. Relatives, friends, shopaholics are all welcome.
Tickets are $20-25.
Scholastic
Book Fairs
The
lobby of TLC transforms into a children's bookstore about twice
each year. Scholastic Books are on sale. Buy them for birthdays,
holidays, “any day is a good day for a book day” or fulfill the
wish lists of teachers and librarians. Encourage your children
to read and raise funds for the school at the same time.
Bake
Sales
Whether
school-wide or sponsored by one class, bake sales are a tried
and true fundraiser. You can expect two or three of these a year.
Brownies, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, coffee cakes – you
name it, we bake it. One of the most popular sellers are our
festive goodie bags. Items go on sale before drop-off and after
pick-up. Corporate orders are honored too!
Rummage
Sales
Every
year we prove that old adage – “one man's trash is another
man's treasure”. Empty your closets of those old things that
have been hanging around and put them on sale before drop-off
and after pick-up. This fundraiser takes place at least once,
sometimes twice a year. |
