The school day formally begins when a designated staff member or I ring the bell out on the plaza. The bell indicates that it is time to line up at 8:30 AM in the spot that is designated for each class. School will dismiss at 3:00 PM. You should meet your child and their class in the plaza at their class's official line up and dismissal spot. All classes except Pre K will be picked up and dismissed on the plaza.
Again, parents new to our school may wish to escort their child to his/her new class. We would ask that you keep this time to a minimum to allow your child to integrate quickly into his/her class. After the first two days of school we ask that you no longer accompany your child to class in the morning.
SCHOOL STARTS AT 8:30 AM EACH DAY. Your child must be here and ready to start school at this time.
*****Habits of coming to school on time, lining up in the plaza, saying good-bye to parents as the class goes in are all important for your child's success in school.*****
I will be issuing a letter after the first month of school to those families who are chronically late. At this time we will set up individual meetings to address issues of lateness.
Please be aware that the school office must have your child's completed health form by Monday, September 19th, 2004. At that time all immunizations must be up to date. Children will be excluded from class if immunizations are not up to date on September 21st.
Please make sure you check your child's backpack each day for important notices, in order for you to stay informed about what's happening school wide and in your child's classroom. It is important that your child has a well-maintained Homework Folder, and a backpack that is big enough to carry books and school sized paper.
Once again, the Folder and backpack must come to school every day with your child. This year we will continue to post the minutes from PTA & School Leadership Team meetings, and all notices that are sent home on our school website - www.ps150.net

The following is a list of answers, to some commonly asked questions.
Please read the following carefully. It is important that the necessary routines are put in place immediately to ensure a successful school year.
Why must I adhere so strictly to the arrival and dismissal procedures?
Our procedures are designed to ensure the safety of all of our children. We will not dismiss your child to an adult that we do not know unless you have submitted written consent and this adult as proper identification. Please make sure you fill out and return the "Dismissal Information" form that you will receive
Why is the school staff so concerned about consistent attendance and punctuality?
OUR SCHOOL DAY BEGINS AT 8:30 AM. It is imperative that your child is in the plaza prior to 8:30 AM, each day, so that he/she can line up with the class when the bell rings. When children are late for class, they miss valuable learning experiences and they interrupt the continuity of instruction for the other children. Missing fifteen minutes or more of classroom time is a significant amount of time for our students. Excessive lateness does affect a student's chances/options for middle school acceptance.
OUR SCHOOL DAY ENDS AT 3:00 PM
Adults, who pick up children, must be on time as well. When parents pick up children after the designated time children become anxious. Additionally, it places a burden on the staff, as their workday does not end until all of their students are picked up.
What should I do if I have a question or concern regarding my child's progress or school life?
You should address all of your concerns and questions to the classroom teacher at first. If you are unable to resolve the situation with the teacher, you should schedule a meeting to talk to me. After this, we will schedule a meeting with all the adults that might be able to support your child through the situation about which you are concerned.
